Frequently Asked Questions about Music

How often does my child have music?
Students in all grade levels have music twice weekly for 40 minutes.

What is your behavior policy?
It is important to me that my classroom be a safe, conducive environment for music learning. Students unable to follow our classroom rules are given non-verbal and verbal reminders about their choices/behavior. Students who repeatedly interrupt instruction with misbehavior are asked to sit in an “observation” chair where they may observe appropriate behavior and reflect upon their own choices. Students who continue to interrupt instruction will receive written notification home to their parent or caregiver.

How can I find a private lesson instructor for my child?
E-mail Ms. Bailey requesting a list of private instructors. Farmington Public Schools puts together a list of area private instructors for all instruments, including piano, guitar, and voice.

How can I find out more about instrumental music?
Your child’s instrumental music teachers are Mr. Steve Button for band (woodwinds, brass, and percussion) and Mrs. Catha Thomas for orchestra (strings). You may e-mail them or leave a message for them in the main office.
